Founded in 1999 and based in St. Louis, The Kingsbury Ensemble is one of the Midwest's premier early music ensembles. Our mission is to stage authentic performances from the Renaissance to the early Romantic period, so that listeners may experience this timeless music as its original audiences did. The Kingsbury Ensemble presents a varied, yearly season of performances, ranging from solo recitals to larger productions including song, dance, and theater.
Our musicians have played in over two dozen countries, and hail from five different cities across the country. We are privileged to have dedicated board members, and an enthusiastic, multigenerational audience.
In addition to our regular members, we work with a wide variety of guest artists, including: Terry Barber, countertenor; Nerea Berraondo, mezzo-soprano Jay Carter, countertenor; Carolyn Copeland, dancer; Carlos Fittante, dancer; Paul Elliott, tenor; Curtis Foster, oboe; Esteli Gomez, soprano; Eric Hoeprich, clarinet; Roger Kaza, horn; Thomas Jöstlein, horn; RJ Kelly, horn; Aislinn Nosky, violin; Sherezade Panthaki, soprano; Linda Quan, violin/viola; Marc Schachman, oboe, Richard Seraphinoff, horn; Nina Stern, recorder/chalumeau; Kiri Tollaksen, cornetto; Glen Velez, percussion; and Mary Wilson, soprano.
